Committees & Ministries

Committees

schScholarship Committee:  The Mount Olive Church Scholarship Committee shat be responsible for administering the church scholarship funds, providing scholarships to graduating High School Seniors entering an accredited two to four years college for the first time.

 

The Flower Committee: The Flower Committee is responsible for securing, arranging, and disposal of floral arrangements for church services.

 

Baptism Committee Missionaries:  The Baptism committee assists the church in matters related to baptism administration.  Its work includes such work as maintaining all items for ready use.

 

The Pastor’s Aide Committee:  The Pastor’s Aide Committee assist the church in areas related to the personal needs of the pastor.

 

The Special Program Committee:  This committee shall be responsible for planning programs for special occasions.  Including – Annual Tea, Church anniversaries and other special occasions

 

The Benevolent Committee:  This committee will be responsible for administering to the needs of the sick and needy members of this church.

 

imagesThe Kitchen Committee: The Kitchen committee is responsible for formulating and recommending to the church, policies for the kitchen and for communication these policies to  church members.

 

 

Ministries

Sunday School Ministry:  The Sunday School Ministry shall be the basic organization for the Bible teaching program.  Its task shall be to teach the biblical revelation, reach persons for Christ and church membership, perform the functions of the church within its constituency, provide and interpret information regarding the work of the church and denomination.

 

The Women’s Missionary Union:  Women’s Missionary Union shall be the mission education, mission action, and mission support organization of the church for women, young women, girls and preschool children.  Its task shall be to engage in mission action; support world missions through praying and giving and provide and interpret information regarding the work of the church and denomination.

 

healthwellness logo 1Health and Wellness Ministry seeks to educate the congregation and community about health issues impacting the Charleston community and the underserved. We distribute a newsletter and pertinent source materials whenever available.

 

 

Men’s Ministry:  The Men’s Ministry shall be, the church’s organization for mission education, mission action, and mission support for men, young men, and boys. The Church Music Organization:  The Church Music organization, under the direction of the church-elected music directors shall be the music education, training and performances organization of the church.  Its task shall be to teach music, train persons to lead, sing, and play music; provide music in the church and community; and provide and interpret information regarding the work of the church and denomination.

 

The Youth Department:  This department shall be under the leadership of the Youth Board, which shall be made up of six members one of whom shall be the Superintendent of the Sunday School and two (2) youths from the church and a youth director.  The purpose of this department is to provide religious education training and to generally prepare the youth of this church to assume leadership roles in the church and the community.

The Food Bank Ministry functions under the guidelines of the Low Country Food Bank benefiting individuals with low/fixed incomes and those with no other source of income. The Food Bank serves as a Same Day Pantry and is opened from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. every third Saturday of each month. In addition, we distribute clothing to those who are in need.

Mt. Olive Mission

Mt. Olive Baptist Church is called to proclaim the Gospel of Christ. As a Missionary Church, we are consecrated to the Salvation of the Last Conversion of the undegenerated. We pledge our lives to Christ and Covenant with each other to demonstrate his spirit through worship, witnessing and, ministering to the needs of the people of the Church and the community.
